Fall 2016 Trends Straight From New York Fashion Week- Part 1
Welcome to another session of fall 2016 trends! Every season, we have some amazing trends from the runways of top fashion weeks that make us think of the fashion rules yet again. After all, what’s the fun of styling when you don’t have new things to experiment with? In this special series, we will be focusing on New York Fashion Week, which concluded amidst a lot of hopes and paparazzi coverage. We will try to unleash the new ideas from the runways and decode the fashion trends that top houses have to offer. Let’s get started now!
Exclusive leather trench coats: Trench coats were all about leather at New York Fashion Week, which is a clear trend in itself. Apart from the long trench designs, there were other looks too that demanded attention, including shorter coats. What’s even interesting is the use of colours, which spread from just black to more softer nude shades. Now, our regular readers know that we don’t support leather and have our concerns for the animals, but the trend should work big time in faux leather too. Honestly, the material isn’t the constraint, because it is more about getting the trend right. For some ideas, check 3.1 Phillip Lim, Karen Walker, and Calvin Klein among others, but make sure to find the right balance between colour, material and length.
Plaids again: We can now safely say that plaid and checks are easily one of the most frequented trends of fall 2016. Checks and similar prints were also seen at London Fashion Week, but at New York, the plaids were simpler and easy. These are prints that you can find in your local stores and online shops. Opt for coordinated skirts and shirts or go for a complete dress – the choice is yours. Some of the top designers that you would want to see for this trend include names like Calvin Klein, Jason Wu and Ralph Lauren. Try to make the most of monochromatic colours, which probably would also emerge as one of the new trends for fall 2016.
Velvet fresh: Velvet is making yet another impression for fall, and the looks are amazingly refreshing and demands attention. From solid colours to prints, velvet was seen in all shape and form, starting with dresses to more amazing ensembles comprising of outfits and trousers. Top names like Ralph Lauren, Prabal Gurung, Mara Hoffman, and Marc Jacobs worked with the material in varied colours, although black seemed to be the flavour in many shows. If you are looking for velvet looks but don’t want to go for a new experiment altogether, you can try one item for the entire outfit in the material. A black dress might look over the top, but with a nice shirt or turtleneck, a pair of velvet pants would look just awesome.
Keep an eye on this space, because we have some more trends from New York Fashion Week coming your way. Fall might seem far, but your shopping list should start right now!
